The Network Architect is responsible for leveraging existing and new technologies in the design and support of Textron Systems computer network environment. The Network Architect will collaborate with Textron Systems Business Partners and Infrastructure and Application Teams, Textron Information Services, DXC, and business customers to identify opportunities for exploiting technology. They will have responsibility for the promotion, definition, and governance of Network architecture and design for Textron Systems. The Network Architect will provide architecture support across the Network space, including but not limited to LAN/WAN, Firewall, VoiP, VPN, and wireless subject areas. The goal of the Network Solutions Architect will be to ensure seamless solutions are designed, built, and can be operated to satisfy client requirements. The Network Architect will have accountability to build out and deliver new services for Textron Systems. Responsibilities • Works in conjunction with Enterprise Architects and Systems IT Teams to define and implement the core technologies and architectures selected to meet business requirements. • Leads major Textron Systems digital initiatives. Responsible for the technical design of initiatives that spans multiple projects. • Architects network & security infrastructure for company information and network systems/applications. • Leads the research and evaluation of new emerging technologies and innovating designs • Conducts proof of concept testing, assessing the relevance of those technologies and impacts to Textron Systems. • Implements, maintains, and consults on critical network infrastructure, including, but not limited to, Cisco switches, Cisco routers, Cisco Datacenter hardware, internet connectivity, voice/phone systems, Wireless Solutions, and UPS devices. • Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) and provides support for network/security-related incidents. Proactively monitors and measures the overall infrastructure performance and recommends or drives the necessary corrective measures. • Deploys, monitors, and maintains critical security infrastructure, including Palo Alto Networks firewalls, business-to-business VPN, and other remote access tools. • Acts as a technical and professional mentor to other Technology Services staff. • Creates operational efficiencies by utilizing automation to address alerts, provisioning, maintenance, and other activities. • Facilitates fulfillment of network infrastructure needs, and coordination between vendors, technical staff, and customers. • Produces accurate system documentation for ease of implementation, and management. • Performs routine maintenance tasks for infrastructure systems; backups, patch management and hot fixes. Establishes requirements, methods and procedures. Plans and schedules hardware and software repair and installations and performs structural changes when necessary. • Ensure customer satisfaction and quality solutions by anticipating customer needs and understanding the business and issues. • Provide leadership, decision-making and accountability for application architecture design. Ensure that business problems are solved in a timely and acceptable fashion, matching services to needs to manage customer demands by educating and communicating. • Some travel required – less than 25%. Qualifications - External • Experience o A four year Bachelor’s degree or Certifications in lieu o A minimum of 5+ years of technical, hands on network support experience o A minimum of 3+ years of architecture experience in companies with a complex technical environment. Experience may be gained in any environment with similar complex and sophisticated information requirements. • Experience working with Data Center technologies. • Requires experience with various voice technologies including, but not limited to PSTN and SIP infrastructure, Cisco Unified Call Manager. • Requires in-depth knowledge of switched LAN, WAN, and other networking fundamental design techniques and technologies. • Experience implementing Palo Alto firewall integrations with external dynamic security services. • In-depth understanding of network monitoring tools and services. • Advanced knowledge of network infrastructure solutions, designs, and best practices. • Advanced knowledge of network technology fundamentals. • Advanced knowledge of application layer firewalls, intrusion prevention systems. Experience with Palo Alto Networks brand firewalls a plus. • Advanced knowledge of Cisco routing and switching. • Advanced knowledge of various remote access toolsets, including various VPN tools, Citrix, etc. • Proven experience with VOIP phones systems and competence with testing tools and procedures with voice and data circuits. • Experience and ability to work through change management process based on ITIL framework. • Possesses excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with a proven ability to champion causes with positive impact and change. • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail. • Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment. • Strong customer service orientation. • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. • Demonstrated experience handling sensitive or confidential information. • Demonstrated experience maintaining records of regulatory compliance.
