The Manager, Industrial Engineering reports directly into the Director, Strategic Operations and provides value-added services defining ISC Services future state to enable the Textron Systems Enterprise to achieve Operations Excellence by ensuring optimal campus, office, PL&C and factory layouts, defining core manufacturing throughout the various sites, and optimization of capital investments to provide the latest manufacturing and material handling technology to drive cost efficiencies. This is a influential and leadership role with a great deal of exposure to the domain leaders and ISC leadership across all sites. This role is integral to strategic planning as well as optimization planning. It is a dependent upon role to extract domain business objectives and develop and execute integrated supply chain 5-year plan to achieve operations excellence and capability to execute at optimal levels. Job Duties: 1. Owns the enterprise capital planning process for integrated supply chain across all sites to ensure balance, affordability, and optimal use for future requirements. 2. Conducts and owns core versus context evaluations and process across sites on an annual basis to determine core manufacturing processes across sites resulting in the most efficient, optimized, and lowest risk execution for programs. 3. Integrates with the ISC and Domain leadership in strategic planning processes. 4. Manages high complexity projects to include capital, short-to-long range facility planning and specific project-based efforts. 5. Creates business cases for capital requirements to include facilities, machinery, material handling equipment, technology, etc. 6. Creates a annual holistic ISC strategic plan and time-phased battleplan for each site aligned to the financial plan and Domain business plans encompassing facilities, machinery & equipment, manufacturing technology, material handling equipment, processes, material flow & presentation, etc. 7. Works collaboratively with the ISC Product Development swim lane manager to ensure the industrialization plans are in place and able to effectively be executed to support to product execution plans (transition-to-production). 8. Focuses on processes and systems associated with collecting customer requirements (voice of customer), synthesizing and analyzing requirements, developing numerous potential solutions, evaluating solutions, developing recommendations and presenting project options to customers. 9. Participates in improvement initiatives, using continuous improvement techniques, to increase efficiency and quality. 10. Reviews systems and processes and drives to automate and improve to reduce human error, improve the customer experience, and drive cost efficiencies. 11. Defines and creates metrics as a means to establish KPIs, baseline performance and create indicators for success and to identify improvement opportunities. 12. Manages budgets to ensure execution is conducted on-time, within scope and to budget. Must institute industry standard budget management tracking systems coupled with solid risk analysis as part of project management. 13. Practices project management principles and concepts. 14. Manages and leads others in our collective journey to achieve operations excellence. 15. Identify and utilize software, systems, and tools to optimize processes such as simulation modeling. Qualifications: All requirements are subject to possible modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities. Basic: Typically requires ten (10) or more years of relative experience, in creating and managing large industrial engineering strategic plans across numerous site locations or equivalent education and experience to demonstrate the ability to successfully perform the job. Must have proven leadership and management skills to lead a team to aggressively achieve positive change in a highly collaborative environment. Strategic thinker and influencer capable of collecting voice of customer and translating to impactful actions enabling a high level of performance. Capable of multi-tasking and balancing numerous large and complex concurrent projects while working to schedule and budget constraints established in the work breakdown structure for each program assigned. Excellent soft skills to include collaboration, customer-service, communications (verbal & writing), networking, and facilitation. An expert at production line development methods and optimal achievement of product flow. Preferred: Bachelors Degree, preferably in a technical field such as industrial or manufacturing engineering or similar. Master’s Degree is preferred. Ability to demonstrate innovative and creative design approaches. Understanding of and application of continuous improvement principles and concepts. Experience as a Lean Six Sigma professional is a plus. Excellent demonstrated leadership and management skills. Knowledge and experienced use of simulation modeling is a plus. Knowledge of industrial engineering practices. TRAVEL Expect up to 25% travel at times, dependent on the project.
