WHO are we looking for? Saft America is looking for a full-time Mechanical Engineer. In this position, you will contribute to the design and development of the next generation of lithium-ion batteries for Defense, Space, and Racing applications. Saft is HQ’ed in France, with 4,300 employees in 18 countries. Our manufacturing site in Cockeysville houses the research and development of Saft America’s Space and Defense Divisions. What will you DO? • Creation of mechanical design output as assigned or directed by senior engineers, participating as mechanical representative on program teams, and maintaining product data. The incumbent reports to the mechanical engineering manager and works with internal customers such as program managers and other engineers and designers. Interaction may also be required with customer technical representatives. • Develop mechanical component and assembly designs. • Present design work to other engineers and stakeholders for review. • Provide information as required for internal and external customers pertaining to program progress and status. For example: high level design concept drawings for bids, or detailed information slides for a critical design review. • Model mechanical components and assemblies in CREO software. • Document components and assemblies, and process documentation through the company configuration management system. • Review and check designs and drawings. • Perform analysis and calculations such as stress, heat dissipation, and tolerance analysis in support of design. Familiar with creep and clearance requirements for high voltage systems. What experience is REQUIRED? • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or 10 years direct Mechanical Design experience • 6 years direct mechanical design experience with electrical/mechanical systems including electromechanical packaging. Hands on participation in design development and prototype builds. • Proficient with CAD software. Good knowledge of Standard design and manufacturing processes. Familiar with MIL standards. • A creative personality with the ability to think outside the box.
