Why is this position UNIQUE? In the Cell Design role, you will quickly gain real experience. We are small enough of a company, that you get control of major parts of your own project, but we are also large enough that you’ll be working on interesting projects, using modern tools and learning from experienced mentors. What will you DO? • Design and develop the next generation of lithium-ion cells for new defense, space and racing applications. • Analyze cell performance and process data to improve designs, which will optimize performance, manufacturability and cost. • Support process and tooling engineers in developing and understanding the processes and tooling required to produce prototypes and final products. • Support battery module design engineers to understand battery mechanical design constraints and optimize overall battery design. What experience do you NEED? • A Bachelor’s degree (in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering) or higher. • At minimum of two to three years of experience with the following requirements: o Experience in electro-mechanical packaging, FEA and thermal management. o Tool & die design experience. o Mechanical design drafting experience and working knowledge of ASME Y14.5M-2009. o Proficiency in CREO parametric (simple static stress simulation, tolerance stack analysis, etc.) and Microsoft Project. What experience is PREFERRED? • Experience in statistical analysis, AutoCAD and CFD is preferred. • General knowledge in lithium-ion cell chemistry and cell design principles. • General knowledge of lithium-ion processes, such as coating, web-handling, winding, and direct metal joining. • General understanding of material (metal and polymer) processing techniques and metallurgical failure analysis. • General understanding of DFX design approach. Let us tell you about the LOGISTICS of this position: • This will be a salaried, full-time position in Cockeysville, Maryland. • All applicants must be US citizens or green card holders. What are the BENEFITS of joining our Saft family? • We offer a full benefits package, including but not limited to yearly salary increases, an extremely attractive 401K match, up to $10,000 yearly in tuition reimbursement, health program incentives, training programs, etc. • Our site is located just north of Baltimore. We have numerous employees that have accrued 15, 30, even 50 years of tenure! • Saft offers modern perks, such as flexible work hours, employee lounges, and extracurricular activities, such as Fantasy Formula 1, softball, bowling and pool leagues, quarterly paint nights, and a book club, to name a few! • We take pride in our diverse workforce, and we truly value internal mobility and movement. • We value our community and participate in multiple charity events and fundraisers. A few examples include: participating in the annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) walk in downtown Baltimore, bringing the Red Cross Bloodmobile onsite, and holding events throughout the year that raises funds to sponsor families in need around the holidays. • Our Cockeysville work family also enjoy participating in numerous Saft-sponsored activities throughout the year, including family picnics, Orioles baseball games and crab feasts in the summer, chili cook-offs and tailgate parties in the fall, Christmas parties and charity events in the winter, and Diversity Days potlucks and interactive ‘Bring your Kids to Work’ days in the spring.
