SUMMARY: Fabricate parts of a professional level to support maintenance activities on production and building equipment in a safe and efficient manner. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Build replacement guards, brackets, chutes, etc. as needed. - Operate and maintain all shop equipment safely and efficiently (Lathe, Bridgeport, Saws, etc.) - Maintain inventory of tooling and materials needed to make parts. - Perform routine and preventative maintenance on shop equipment. - Must be a proficient welder of all types of metals. - Safely operate and maintain power hand tools. - Observe all safety precautions, food safety requirements, and plant rules to prevent injury to self/others and to prevent loss of material and damage to equipment.  - Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models or descriptions and visualize product to determine materials required and machine to be used to fabricate parts. - Examine standard or previously used part transfer and/or part containment systems to determine improvements in design or build method. - Be able to create fabricated parts that fit the process need without any (minimal) guidance and make parts in a safe and efficient manner.  - Design part contact points to ensure parts are not damaged or contaminated.  - Support PM programs, housekeeping, 5-S and process improvement initiatives. - Using all in-house equipment be able to fabricate and produce products that are designed to work with our manufacturing equipment without damage to production products or equipment. - Keep accurate records/ paperwork according to established recordkeeping procedures. - Communicate effectively with Supervisors, other mechanics and various production personnel. - Other Duties as assigned. - Accepts responsibility to comply with all safety, quality, customer, ISO, SQF and any other regulatory requirements. And has the authority to report concerns that could impact these requirements or suggest areas for improvement.
